Southwest United was established in 1981 as the Premier Soccer Club in Edmonton to provide youth athletes top-level training and development. We are a premier soccer club based in south Edmonton. Our club offers elite youth soccer development programs for boys and girls aged 4 to 17.
Wed, Nov 20, 20246:30 PM - 8:30 PMLocation: The Derrick Golf and Winter Club
Southwest United offers 3 basic programs for youth soccer players, all of which are consistent with the Canada Soccer’s Long Term Player Development model.
U5 to U7 players will participate in our Grassroots program. The next semester is eight weeks long and will start in early May. Players will train two nights a week on our fields at Ivor Dent Sports Park.
As players progress to the Development Program (U9-U11), more complex technical and tactical skills are introduced, and SAQ (Speed, Agility, Quickness) training is added to enhance soccer performance.
In the U12-17 Competitive Program all 4 key areas of development are emphasized (Technical, Tactical, Physical and Mental) to promote a high level of proficiency in soccer.

SWU Team: 2004 Southwest United GirlsCurrent Team: Saint Mary's
My name is Fiona Davidson, I am a 2022 graduate and a Saint Mary's University soccer commit. Here's my journey!I started playing soccer as soon as I could walk; I loved it from the first moment. As a kid growing up, I played community in Leduc and then around the age of 10, I joined my first competitive team. After a couple of years I outgrew it and at the age of 12, I became a part of the 2004 Southwest United Girls Team coached by Tomasz Janas. This is where in my opinion I started to become the player I am today. It was daunting at first, but i guess it is for anyone to join a new team. Now I know it was one of the best changes I ever made for my soccer career.I got put in an environment...

When I joined SWU 2003 Boys team with the new coach Tomasz Janas back in 2016, I felt nothing but belief towards me in helping me achieve my dream. With that came friends and coaches that I was fortunate enough to meet. I feel SWU is an extraordinary place because they believe in helping you develop as a player on and off the field. The environment they produce for young aspiring players is excellent and has positively impacted my teammates and me. I hope many other players can experience this for years to come. The exposure that I got from being part of this family is nothing short of phenomenal, and being a part of this family for so many years has changed my life not only in football but also as a person...

Hola! My name is Pavle Pekez and I am from Edmonton, AB, Canada. Before coming to Málaga City Academy I played in SWU soccer club in Edmonton under direction off my coach Tomasz Janas that was my last club before leaving to Spain. I’ve been enjoying my experience playing football and living independently in a completely different country. Training and playing almost everyday has noticeably improved my play, and I am excited to continue my career in football and take my game to the next level.

I started playing at Southwest United when I was just 12 years old. I spent countless hours training hard on my own, coming to practices early and doing all I could to ensure I improved enough to make it to the next level. With the help from coaches, especially Tomasz, I grew into the player I am today and was able to transition into faster paced environments. I moved to Spain to pursue my dreams, in which after only a few weeks, I signed with a semi professional team. After a few good performances I was actually offered a couple professional contracts, but I decided that ultimately I would like to finish school. I hope to transfer and compete at the highest collegiate level possible in the near future. With hard work, dedication and perseverance I know I can achieve my goals, and I hope that others here at Southwest United will continue to also achieve theirs.
