Today you may have heard the news that the Edmonton Scottish and St. Albert Impact soccer clubs have decided to register their teams with the Edmonton Minor Soccer Association (EMSA) league. We feel it necessary to provide you some background, additional information, and some of the plans for the way forward.
At the recent Alberta Soccer Association AGM this past weekend, EIYSA was informed that Scottish and St. Albert Impact filed application papers for a move to EMSA. While this will present challenges to EIYSA and our club in the short term, it presents significant opportunity in the long term.
Any players interested in joining Southwest United Soccer Club (SWU) and its teams and playing in the EIYSA league should contact the people below to get more information about our competitive league and our technical program.
SWU is part of EIYSA because it provides a superior competitive environment that allows players to develop high level soccer skills. Our goal is to continue to provide our players with high value development from the Grassroots Level to U17. Our club provides this experience by following the CSA development pathway which features comprehensive technical training for the players, and continued development of coaches. Playing games in a competitive environment is important to player development. EIYSA provides this platform.
At SWU we will ensure that:
EIYSA’s clubs are working together to provide one of the most accomplished and successful club soccer programs in the country, and this has not changed. Since its inception EIYSA has always strived to create a superior soccer program for Edmonton’s finest youth soccer players. EIYSA is recognized in Alberta and Canada as one of the leading producers of talented soccer players. It is important to provide a platform for players to hone their talents and develop their skills so that they can achieve their goals and aspirations. EIYSA provides players these opportunities.
We want our players to continue to play and train in a fun, structured, competitive environment. We encourage you to ask us your questions. We are here answer them.
